Academy Security Training
is a training company fully licensed by the Bureau of Security
and Investigative Services (BSIS), an agency of the California
Department of Consumer Affairs. It is licensed in San
Diego County as license #TFF 1211. It is licensed in the
Los Angeles County headquarters as license #TFF 1185.
In addition, Academy
Security Training (Be Safe Gun Training) is approved as a
recognized facility by the California Department of Justice to
provide training to firearms instructors for certification as
Handgun Safety instructors. This is a very specialized
niche and available for organizations requiring this; please
inquire.

Director

Ruperto Elpusan provides
security consulting with a specialization in physical security. He is a Certified Protection Officer
(International Foundation of Protection Officers), Certified
Physical Security Officer and Certified Close Protection
Agent. He is a graduate of the Detective Training
Institute and has earned Bachelor's degree from UCLA and a
Master of Business Administration from New York University.
Ruperto is an active firearms
enthusiast and trainer. He is the director of Be
Safe Gun Training and American
CCW which provides multi-state Concealed Carry Weapon permit
training. He first obtained his Expert Pistol
qualification while at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis in
1975. Ruperto is a published author of several books
including Women's Guide to Buying Your First Handgun
and Terrorism Survival Guide. He is a member of the International Association of Law
Enforcement Firearms Instructors, National Tactical Officers
Association, International Law Enforcement Educators and
Trainers Association and the National Rifle Association.
He worked as a Detention Services Officer and later with the Reserves of the Los Angeles County Probation
Department.
